Your car runs because the battery sends electricity to the starter. The battery also provides the power for the electrical system. If your battery isn't generating a full 12.6 volts your car won't perform as it should. Here is how to test your car's battery.

Your battery contains chemicals so for safety wear rubber gloves and goggles. You will also need a voltmeter. With the engine and lights turned off connect the voltmeter's red lead to the positive battery terminal and the black lead to the negative terminal. The reading on the voltmeter should exceed 12.4 volts.

Your battery needs replacing if your reading is under 12 volts, it is five years old, won't take or maintain a charge, lacks the power to start the engine. If you live in the Williamsville area and your battery needs replacing avoid getting stranded by allowing us at Jaguar Buffalo to replace your battery.
